Note about eighth grade trip coming home today; need it back as sson as possible.
September 12, 2011
Dear parents:
The arrangements for our eighth grade trip to New York City are underway. However, I need to know the number of adults that would like to join us on the trip so the travel agent can make the appropriate hotel, bus, and Broadway arrangements. If at all possible, we will be seeing Wicked; that is one of the reasons I need the number traveling right now. The tickets sell out very quickly.
All parents are welcome, as well as any other adult family members you would enjoy having along on this adventure. The number also impacts the cost of the trip. As the number traveling goes up, the price per person goes down.
Please fill out the attached form and return it to me this week. I will need a $100 deposit by October 1 at the latest, for each person (student and adult) traveling. If you can get your deposit in sooner, that would be appreciated. If you know you are going on the trip, but are unable to pay the $100 per person deposit at this time, just let me know and the school will cover your deposit until you are able to pay it. Again, please turn in the attached form as soon as possible, tomorrow if possible. Thank you.
In His Name,
Sally Buss

Welcome to the eighth grade and our back to school picnic!
August 19, 2011
Dear parents and students,
Welcome to the eighth grade! This is just a quick letter to invite you to the official eighth grade back-to-school picnic to be held the evening of the first day of school. This year we will have the picnic at school. (I’m truly sorry I could not come up with a better location.) The kids and I will spend a little time on Monday morning preparing an entrée (if I can think of one), and I will put it in the oven to be ready to eat at 6:00 P.M. that evening. After dinner, I will talk to parents about more than you ever wanted to know about eighth grade, while the kids play outside or in the gym. Your entire family is invited. If possible, I would like every family represented. I will discuss curriculum, materials, methods, field trips, charitable activities, special projects, and your questions. Parents will also select the destination of the eighth grade trip on that evening. Attendance at the picnic will exempt you from Curriculum Night, if your only child at Trinity is an eighth grader, which will be held the next night, August 30.
I hope all of you can come Monday, August 29, arriving if possible by 6:00 P.M., for our first gathering of the year. I will provide a main course and green salad. If you would like to bring an item to add to the picnic, that would be great, but if you don’t have time, just come. The one thing I really need for you to bring is fruit juice of any kind for Eighth Grade Punch! Please let your student know how many people in your family will be attending, so I can take a count on Monday morning. If for some reason you cannot make it, please arrange for your student to ride with another student; I just don’t want anyone left out, if at all possible. Call or email me on my cell phone if you have any questions (586-918-1071). My email is sbuss@trinityct.org.
Looking forward to seeing you soon, and again, welcome to the eighth grade!
Blessings,
Sally Buss
P.S. Students, don’t forget to finish Everfound (Chapter 40-end). We will have a Socratic discussion during the first week of school, so you might want to start writing at least 10 questions for which there is no definitive answer, as well as take a quick objective test to document you did the reading; I want to give you credit for all your hard work.

Saturday, April 30 Bonjour
Bonjour class. Is everyone ready for New York? This is just a reminder that the driver will not arrive until 10:45. I will be at school about 10:15. Seriously, if you get there at 10:30, that will be early. I suspect we will not pull out until 11:00. Remember to bring warm clothes and rain gear...and hand sanitizer. If you or your parents have any questions, email or call me at any time.
Can't wait to see you and swap spring break stories,
Mrs. Buss

NYC parent meeting tonight at 7:00.
Thank you to all the parents who worked so hard to make the Euchre Party an extremely enjoyable evening. Unfortunately, because of the small number of people attending, the profits are small too. We will discuss the division of these profits at the NYC meeting, Thursday, April 14.
The eighth grade trip is the evening of Sunday, May 1 to the early morning of Thursday, May 5. Students will not attend school on the 5th; they will return to school Friday morning. I will hold a “mandatory” parent meeting for the eighth grade trip on Thursday, April 14. Every family should attend if possible, and every chaperone should attend, again, if possible. It will be at 7:00 P.M. in the eighth grade room and will last approximately one hour. I need to have the meeting sooner than later, so let me know if this date is a problem. I will have copies of the itinerary and more than you ever wanted to know about traveling to NYC with 17 eighth graders…and me!
Have a great week in the Lord,
Sally Buss
